Renita Withrow has been honing her talents as a flute player since Jethro Tull was a fixture on Top 40 Radio & Herbie Mann was posing nude for album covers.
The Louisiana native's versatility on the flute is the voice she brings to any musical gathering. For nearly 38 years, she has been playing with everybody from back-porch pickers to some of Austin's finest singers/songwriters. While blues is her favorite medium, she can blend seamlessly into folk, rock, jazz, bluegrass, reggae, alternative, original works and even Bossa Nova. Upon request, Renita's been known to whip out her own rendition of RAP on flute.
Renita's busy musical schedule has her dividing her time with her own, collaborative CD project featuring flute with several, local musicians/singers/songwriters, session work at Barnstormers Music, Parrot Tracks & Wise Acres Music Studios, gigging with several local singers/songwriters, and devoting the majority of her time performing with her husband, Steve Withrow, as Wood & Wind.
When not on stage or in the studio, the self-described "luckiest flute player on this Blue Planet" can be found at a pickin' party doing what she loves best -- sharing her music with friends she loves.
Whatever form her band takes, Renita and company & Wood & Wind provides an excellent musical background to any venue, be it coffeehouse, nightclub, cafe' patio, private party, special event or studio.
